Racetorations classic car restorers FAQ’s

Common Questions we get asked

Do you service and repair all makes and models of vehicles?

Racetorations specializes in the servicing, repair and rebuilding of Triumph TRs, and has previous experience of building a wide range of other classic cars including Triumph, MG, Healey, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bugatti and Ferrari. Whatever model or make of classic car you have, Racetorations has the skills and equipment to take care of it.

Why does my car need maintenance if it’s running fine?

Preventative maintenance of your classic car protects your investment, prevents breakdowns and ensures you enjoy your car as it should be enjoyed. Regular servicing and maintenance, whether it be engine tuning, general servicing or part rebuilds, gives you that peace of mind while also minimizing potentially large repair bills in the future.

If you don’t have a part in stock, how long will it take to order?

Depending on the part, we can normally get them to us on the next working day. However, for more specialist parts we recommend contacting us to discuss.

Why does the cost of repair involve so many labour hours?

It is true that classic cars are relatively easy to maintain when compared to modern cars. However, the hand-built nature of a classic car teamed with the lack of a ‘throw away culture’ at the time, means that some repairs can take comparatively longer than those on todays equivalent. However,  through training, education and investment, Racetorations has the skills and equipment to ensure any job is carried-out to the highest possible standard, in a timely and efficient manner.

What will happen if I don’t have servicing or repairs done right now?

Our top priority is to provide you with the highest quality of product we can. If servicing is not carried-out regularly this may lead to more serious running problems further down the line. Similarly, if bodywork repairs are not tackled promptly, there is risk of water ingress or further deterioration to the surrounding area.

How long does a typical rebuild take?

This depends entirely on the nature and specification of the work. Typically, a full restoration to your dream car will take approximately twelve months for Racetorations to deliver.

How can I pay for my parts?

Preferred payment methods are via card transfer through the online shop.

Will I need to be home to accept the package?

For parts orders, are typically  delivered by next day delivery. If you order an in-stock part by 13:00, our team will strive to have it packed and shipped the same day. Packages must be signed for so please consider this when ordering.

Can you source a donor car for me or will I have to provide one?

This option is open to you. However, due to the growing scarcity of classic cars it is more normal for the customer to provide a donor car.

What our customers say

I decided to spend my Golden Hand Shake on a Classic Triumph. My second and best decision was to have Racetorations of Gainsborough to look after it over the last 25 years. They are a very efficient and excellent team that I would highly recommend.

I would like to say how very impressed I am with your professionalism, quality of work and attention to customer satisfaction.

It will be a sad day when the specialist and professional garages the likes of Racetorations are no longer available to maintain our very special classic cars, I do hope you will be around for a long time yet.
